I'm only 17 years old and i'm a guy. i've noticed my hairline receeding at the corners of my fore head probably at the end of being 16 years old. this is really early for anyone to be losing their hair. what are some good tips on either slowing it down, stopping it, or growing it back? is it even possible to grow it back? are there any good products that help most people with hair loss? my older brother had the same thing (it runs in the family) and he bought some rogaine and he said it didn't do anything. my other brothers who are older than me have also tried things but most of the time the products didn't work. any ideas? please help!17 year old male with hair loss, help?
I'm in the same boat as you are. My hairline started receding when I was 16 and now I'm 19 and it has left me with a gigantic widows peak and is also noticeably thin on top.
I know it sounds cliched, but the best advice is just to keep it short and not worry about it too much. I had really long hair from the time I was 14 until just a few months ago, and by that time it was obvious that my hair was thinning. Now it's a ';moppy'; style and while it's still noticeably thin, it's not as obvious as it was when it was long. It took a while to be able to bring myself to cut it after 5 years, but people say it looks good so I'm glad I did it. This, of course, is up to you.
As far as growing it back, there's not much. My family also has history of baldness (although I'm the only one lucky enough to start at 16) and rogaine hasn't worked for any of them so I imagine that too is somehow tied to family history. Going off of that, I would guess that since your brothers haven't had any luck, you won't either. Other than that, your only option is a hair transplant (and you're way too young for that) or a lasercomb. I don't know much about them, but apparently they can stop hair loss, but do not promote new growth. Just stick to good healthy principles such as avoiding sunburn on your scalp and not ripping the hair out through brushing and you'll keep your hair for as long as possible. Who knows, maybe you'll even get lucky and it will stop receding further than it has!
Sorry for the giant wall of text haha, but I hope at least something in there helped you out!
Just remember, you're not alone!17 year old male with hair loss, help?

If you are willing to become an eunuch, then it is possible to hold onto your hair. Really, a famous case in the 1950s observed twins, one insane. The policy back then for severe mental institutions was castration. The brother on the outside had a bald head.
There is nothing you can do until they perfect genetic medicine. Bladness is an after-effect of testerone. The genes for baldness pass down through the female line.
I have seen full, male-pattern baldness before age 21 from an acquaintance of mine. Plastic surgery works for, at best, 10 years, and then the dude looks like they had a horrible head injury from the scar or the transplanted row of follicles.
