I am 17 and not taking any medications. I know people loose a lot of hair everyday, but whenever i brush my hair or run my fingers through my hair i come away with clumps in my hand. When i pull it back into a pony tail it is about as 1/2 as thick as it was 4-5 months ago.
Any ideas on the cause or any experience with this??
Thank you!Hair loss help?
Sometimes it can be stress related, but I know people who have had that problem from damaging their hair. I.e washing, drying and straightening every day... If you straighten your hair quite a lot that is most likely the problem. Try washing your hair every other day (max) and letting it dry naturally most of the time... Try not to straighten it for a while until it has gotten better, I know its annoying, but its better than your hair falling out! Good luck!Hair loss help?

Has there been any changes in your diet or are you under alot of stress. Both will accelerate the hair loss process and/or cause it to fall out prematurely. Start taking vitamins for your hair and you may also want to change shampoos. I use Nioxin, its all natural and it helps.
Are you experiencing any stress right now? You said you are 17 so you must be going through a lot in school right now. preparing for tests, dances, graduation. Everyday stressful activities often put a strain on your hair as well. Evaluate your everyday stress life and if you are getting the proper nutrition in your body and you will have your answer
A good site that talks about hair loss is:
Hair loss is caused by many reasons such as malnutrition, illness, tension and other health problems. It is normal to shed some hair each day as part of a cycle of growing new hairs and loosing some. Badly damaged hair breaks at the scalp. Check out http://usefulinfo-hairloss.blogspot.com/ for more info.
